Who We Are

What We Do

This needs a subtitle here.

Our mission is to promote good gardening practices in partnership with the Cooperative Extension Service of Madison County and Purdue University’s Master Gardener Program. We engage in a variety of activities aimed at enhancing our gardening knowledge and sharing it with others.

Regular Meetings

We hold monthly general membership meetings, open to members and their guests, along with monthly Executive Committee meetings to guide our efforts.

Community Projects

Our members volunteer to present programs and services, helping individuals, children, church, and civic groups learn new gardening techniques and information.

Training and Education

We are committed to continuing horticultural education, allowing us to maintain our status as Master Gardeners and stay informed on the latest gardening practices.

Group Events

We organize trips to gardening-related sites of interest and host social gatherings, fostering a sense of community among our members.

Where We Started

MCMGA was founded in 1995 by a group of Master Gardener Interns eager to learn new techniques and engage in volunteer educational projects throughout the area. As a non-profit organization approved under IRS code Section 501(c)(3), we continue to grow and serve our community.

Why We Love Gardening

Like other Master Gardener groups, we have received training from Extension personnel and gardening experts. This education has equipped us with knowledge on plant nutrition, disease management, pest control, and more. Our passion for gardening drives us to continually expand our understanding and share what we learn with others.

How to Become a Master Gardener

The Purdue Extension Master Gardener Program trains gardening enthusiasts as volunteers to assist Purdue Extension with home horticulture education in Indiana communities. Purdue Extension Master Gardeners are “Helping Others Grow!”
